The Cockatoo Inn/Hotel

Closed in 1996, the site's main claim to fame since is the filming of various lounge scenes from the Quentin Tarantino Film, "Jackie Brown, staring Pam Grier and Samuel L. Jackson.

Additionally, this was the location where Thomas Cavanagh, a defense contractor engineer with Northrup in Pico Rivera, offered to sell secrets on U.S. radar deflecting stealth bombers to two undercover FBI agents posing as KGB officers in late 1984.

The Inn was torn down in 2005 and replaced by a new 300 room hotel. The hotel is almost as big as many Vegas hotels.

These pictures of the Cockatoo Hotel were taken when the dying hulk sat brooding over the intersection at Imperial Highway and Hawthorne Blvd., awaiting it's eventual demolition.

I remember seeing this place a few times when it was still open and wondered about it's "stories". The hotel seemed almost as historic as some Paris hotels.
