I didn't know VW microbus vehicles could travel at supersonic speeds!

The "Rocketmobile" was cool but there was also a larger green shuttle bus that had a martian face on the front of it. It was very cool, but after it broke down it was just sitting in the back of the parking lot for a while before finally disappearing forever. We used to play in it occasionally.

The aluminum "moon house" is long gone and was replaced by this more pedestrian structure.

The aluminum and plastic ornamentation that once covered the buildings was removed and the sparkle white stucco is now this ho hum green and salmon color.

Faint reminders of the famous Stovall Topiary Animals are in the planters.

Trivia Note:

Josie Cotton's 1982 album cover for "Convertible Music" was shot near the pool of the Space Age. The album featured the new wave hit "Johnny, are you queer?"
